10 Years of Half-Life: Night at the Office

March 1st, 2010 by

OFFICIAL WEBSITE: www.nightattheoffice.co.uk PLANETPHILLIP MIRROR: www.planetphillip.com Designer: Darryl Patrick Released: 2005 This mod really goes for something original. Various floors, a few alternate ways to get through stages (although there’s only one right path), and even a couple endings. All made by one person. I’m floored. Even They Hunger wasn’t a solo effort, the closest similarity is Poke646. You play as a simple office worker in Parcel Passages, a courier service. After terrorists flood the building, you have to stop the terrorist menace. It takes a few pages from Die Hard in terms of plot, but it’s a serviceable game on its own. And this is one that actually has a Steam version made for it! In addition, this has a health bar instead of a number, and a realistic ammo system where leftover ammo doesn’t go into an ammo pool. You reload a gun with 15 bullets, you waste the bullets. So it’s a little strategic. The video starts after a boring vent-crawl session that results in you meeting Dave the security guard and killing some terrorists. Eventually you find out something pretty surprising… NOTE: THIS MOD WILL ONLY WORK IN HALF-LIFE. THIS WILL NOT WORK IN HALF-LIFE: SOURCE, DO NOT ASK.
